A huge cash machine if done properly
Squidoo is the first of its kind that made the revenue sharing model really work. Seth Godin, the founder of Squidoo, primary objective was to create an income generating platform geared towrds charity. A huge percentage of the Squidoo income goes to charity (a very noble purpose), a small part for the mainenance of the Squidoo architecture and a significantly large percentage for the community. It worked so well that some community members are earning at least $25,000 every month.
In comes Hubpages, another revenue sharing community patterned after Squidoo but with a twist. It derives the bulk of its revenue from Google Adsense, Kontera, eBay, Amazon and some other associate programs.
The only difference is that instead of pooling the monthly income and sharing it the members, it instead shares the revenue by the frequency of advertisments shown. This means that each Hub (posts in Hubpages are called Hubs) read 100 times shows 60 advertisments under your account and 40 advertisments under Hubpages. You get to use your own Google Adsense account. Everything you earn in the 60% ad visibility is one hundred percent yours.

Google Adsense is the main revenue generator of Hubpages. But in order to maximize the Hubpages, you really need to join at least one of its main associate partners like eBay or Amazon.
